Natural WIsdom is a small independent artisan manufacturing company built on strong eco ethical values, making fresh skincare, hair care & solid perfumes in tiny batches since 2007.
Our Founder
Maeve is the founder of Natural Wisdom Organics and the creator and formulator of our entire range of Skincare, Haircare & Solid Perfumes.
A Homeopath and natural health mentor since 2005, Maeve also studied Pathology and Disease, Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and Herbal Medicine as well as bio-chemistry. Her background in Natural Health and her combined passion for Ecology, Nutrition and Herbal Medicine together with her strong eco ethical values are the inspiration behind all of her recipes & everything we do.
How it all began
Her mission to create her own range of Skincare products began in 2006 when she traveled with her three children, aged six, nine and eleven to Ecuador in South America to volunteer for nearly four months. Concerned about the potential side effects of using conventional anti-malaria medication, sunscreen and insect repellents multiple times daily, Maeve was determined to find alternative options to keep her family safe, especially as two of their group had sensitive, reactive skin and a history of eczema. For six months before embarking on their journey, she researched every possible alternative. The knowledge & wisdom she discovered made her fall in love with the art and science of natural skincare formulation..

During her research to find products to protect without causing harm she realised she would have to make her own products if she was going to avoid over 3 months of having to apply daily chemical 'skinsults' (skin insults)" to her children skin, she explains.
“Having studied chemistry, it was a natural step for me to research [skincare] in greater depth so I spent months researching hundreds of skincare ingredients, what they were made from, what made them work, their environmental impact, toxicity concerns and safe alternative ingredients that could offer similar, the same, or better results." Maeve
So.. Off they went to South America with home made insect repellents and anti malarial herbs. Their kit bag was huge but it turned out to be well worth the extra luggage.
“By the time we returned to the UK, the financial crash was in free fall and we were faced with having to adapt to a very different set of personal circumstances. We moved to the Isle of Wight where I spent the next two years researching and working on my formulations, trying out different methods and comparing the different qualities of ingredients available by testing them against each other rigorously. I was determined to create cold blended skin food using premium food grade ingredients.” Maeve
In the beginning her recipes were very disappointing and for a long time, Maeve seemed to have one setback after another. Finally, in 2010 she had her first real breakthrough but her setbacks didn't end there. Maeve has nurtured and nourished Natural Wisdom through many personally challenging times, never giving up on her dream of creating extraordinary skincare products and the results of her many years of finely tweaking her recipes are these luxuriously indulgent skincare products made from exceptional quality ingredients that are 100% free of cheap, weak fillers and nonsense ingredients.
" I created all of my skincare products to be much more than just 'kind' to our skin, because our skin is so much more than just our outer covering. It's the outside of our inside and although it has evolved to protect us, our skin is sensitive and vulnerable and constantly under attack so it also needs our protection too. That's why I make raw organic skincare products that will feed, nourish, protect and love our skin, that's Natural Wisdom and this is one of the ways we dare to be different". Maeve

"Our skin is seen by many to be nothing more than an inert outer covering, but our skin is so much more than this. It's our bodies largest organ and secreting gland, it's the outside of our inside, our external digestion with an integral connection to every part of our bodies systems. Our Skin has evolved to protect us. It it not where our beauty comes from. As Khalil Kibran once wrote. "Beauty is not in the face, it is a light in the heart". I haven't created Natural Wisdom to make you more beautiful, you are already beautiful & I haven't made Natural Wisdom to be anti ageing either because we're perfect just as we are at every age. Ageing is wisdom & we are for it not against it.
This is why I am such a passionate believer in creating self affirming, self care products that do no harm.
